Terah or even Térach (תֶּרַח / תָּרַח "Wanderer; loiterer", Standard Modern Hebrew Téraḥ / Táraḥ, Tiberian Hebrew Téraḥ / Tāraḥ) was the father of Abraham mentioned in the Hebrew Bible.

Based on data from a Genesis 11, Terah was the boy of Nahor, who was a boy of Serug, who was a boy of Reu, who was a boy of Peleg, who was a boy of Eber, who was a boy of Shelah, who was a boy of Arpachshad, who was a boy of Shem, who was a boy of Noah.

Terah moved by owning his personal from either his native mountains northward to the plains of Mesopotamia, after Abraham got been told to run sol by God. He experienced 2 other sons, Haran, Nahor, and a single girl by a second married woman, Sarah. He sleep in "Ur of the Chaldees," where his boy Haran died, allowing behind his boy Lot. Nahor settled at Haran, the place en route to Ur. Terah afterward migrated using Abraham (probably his immature boy) & Lot (his grandson), together by using their families, from either Ur, intending to last sustaining the children to Canaan; however he ended his voyage around Harran, where he spent a remainder of his times, & died at a age of cc & 5 years (Genesis 11:24-32).

Around Islamic tradition Abraham's (known as Ibrahim) father is reported to own been the human per title Azar; this has lead a bit of Islamic scholars to identify Terah by having Azar.


Terah was too the title of a character in Sesame Street.
